As there are many different vegetation zones, the park is home to a great diversity of mammal species. Smaller carnivores include red panda, red fox, yellow-throated marten and many more.

Menchukha literally translates to “Medicinal Water of Snow” where where men is medicine, chu is water and kha is snow though kha also means mouth.

Mechuka is rapidly becoming a popular tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh due to its scenic beauty, exotic tribes, gentle hills and snow-capped mountains and River Siyom (locally known as Yargyap Chu). The Siom River, which flows through Mechuka also provides a breathtaking view in the valley. The major tourist attraction here is a 400-year-old Buddhist Monastery, which is located at a hilltop in the westernmost part of Mechuka.

Sela Pass

Sela Pass is a place beyond imagination. Sitting at an elevation of 13,700 ft above the ground level, Sela Pass is a beautiful mountain pass. Sela Pass is considered sacred by Buddhists and is believed to have a total of 101 lakes surrounding it. This fame of the pass is the Sela lake.

The speciality about this lake is that the lake will freeze during the winter season which is a visual spectacle. This place is a paradise to the nature lovers and quite picture-worthy.

Arunachal Pradesh is one of the 29 states of India holding the most north-eastern position among the other states in the north-east region of India. Arunachal Pradesh borders the states of Assam and Nagaland to the south, and shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east and China in the north. – By Air: The nearest airport is Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) Tezpur Airport in Assam, which is connected to Kolkata. Few low cost airlines and full service carriers operate regular flights to these airports from all prime cities of India.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is Harmuty, which is only 33 km from Itanagar. North Lakhimpur in Assam is the most convenient railhead.

By Road: At a distance of 10 km from Itanagar is the Naharlagun bus station. The excellent network of roads links Naharlagun with other important places like Shillong, Guwahati, Ziro, North Lakhimpur and Bomdila.

Visiting Arunachal Pradesh you will need to apply for a permit. There are two types of permits to travel in Arunachal Pradesh.

2. Inner Line Permit (ILP)

3. Protected Area Permit (PAP)
Protected Area Permit is required for foreign tourists. This permit is valid for 30 days and costs 3,550 INR.

4. Inner Line Permit (ILP)
Inner Line Permit is required for Indian citizens. This permit is valid for 7 days and costs 100 INR. Also, you can apply for an Inner Line Permit in online and get it on the same day which costs 4,000 INR.
