Visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus one of the most beautiful Catholic Churches showcases the Gothic architecture. The cathedral of our lady of Immaculate Conception was built in the year 1781 by the French missionaries.The approach to the church gives a very peaceful & serene look.
Your day starts with a visit to Auroville a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity. Start at the Visitors’ Centre to get a general idea. Get a token for a visit to the Matrimandir viewing point in the city’s central Peace Area between 9 – 12pm or 2-4.30pm. A relaxed 15 minute shaded walk from the Visitors’ Centre gets you there, or use a shuttle when needed. Enjoy one of the many educational, health care and other activities that are open to visitors at Quiet Healing Centre, Pitanga, Verite’ and Arka. Sample a mix of local and international food in one of Auroville’s many different eateries.
After breakfast, start for the Mahabalipuram important place of classical Monuments in India, the monolithic and cave temples attracts large number of visitors from all over the world. Start with Mahabalipuram Light House which can be visited between 9 AM and 5.30 PM by paying a nominal entry fee. Next stop is the Shore Temple which is two-temple structure that stands facing the sea. Visit Arjuna’s Penance, Krishna Temple showing showing Krishna lifting the Govardhana mountain, Varaha Temple, Pandava Rathas, Krishna’s Butterballa, huge boulder with just a tip of it touching the rock giving the on-looker an impression that it may roll on him any moment.
If time allows, visit the Chennai city for day site seeing and visit Marina Beach, Valluvar Kottam temple and enjoy the south Indian delicious in lunch. Make sure you reserve some time to shop in Pothys, one stop for silk clothing.
